Metal Peterborough ~ From the Bricks Up Exhibition

PTUC would like to recommend this exhibition focusing on a major aspect of our industrial culture ie the brickworks.

We have rescued the old PTUC banner from storage and it is now being displayed as part of this exhibition. The banner prominently features the chimneys of one of the brick kilns.

Go along and enjoy the exhibition. Try to find your old union or branch on the banner. Spot the industries represented in the image. Do you remember this banner? Tell us your stories.

(The exhibition is at Chauffeur’s Cottage, behind the Town Hall, until 9 Feb 2017.)

UN Anti Racism Day National Demo-18 March 2017 (London)

On March 18th, PTUC will be joining the Stand Up To Racism demonstration for UN Anti-Racism Day. Hopefully it will be the biggest yet and show that Theresa May does not speak for us when she blames migrants and refugees for the problems cause by austerity and the financial crisis, and that we are united against racism, Islamophobia and anti-Semitism.

Our NHS Demonstration, London – Saturday 4th March 2017

We have been asked a number of times whether or not we will be going or organising for this demonstration. Well… we are not. And that isn’t because we aren’t behind it, it is only because it is clashing with our Women’s Festival, which has been planned for sometime.

We do of course still fully support this critical cause and will be supporting this in every other way that we can.

More details for those who plan to go can be found here;
