Like all organisation of the working class, PTUC was left weakened by the defeats we suffered under Thatcherism and at the start of the 21 Century Tom Browning and his few remaining – and very elderly – comrades appealed to a younger generation to take over.
PTUC is now seeking to broaden its role as a campaigning group, making links with other radical and progressive people in Peterborough. We want to reach out to the young and to retired workers, to the migrant workers, to the ethnic communities and to all trade unionists. To this end we appeal to you to affiliate your union branches to PTUC and become involved in building a campaigning Trade Union Council for the Twenty First Century.
PTUC is also affiliated to a number of radical campaigns and organisations, including the Labour Representation Committee, the Hands off Venezuela Campaign and Cuba Solidarity.
